A session of the Committee for protection of the repressed has taken place in Mahilyou today.

Its members discussed how life and health of Andrei Sannikov, who is kept in Mahilyou remand prison waiting for prison transfer to Babrujsk, could be protected. This meeting was held after reports that the political prisoner in the remand prison was placed into the so-called “press-khata” (a cell for pressurizing prisoners).

The human rights activists have written an application to the prison governor, Barys Bukhel told on air for Euroradio. They demand an immediate answer, they demand to inform mass media about what is happening to the presidential candidate. Now Mahilyou activists are trying to be received by the remand prison head.

Note: “Press-khata” is a prison cell with total lawlessness, which is supported by the prison administration intentionally. A person is placed there in order to make him give certain testimony or simply break him down by tortures, beating, humiliating treatment.
