Jerzy Buzek: EU looks silly if it believes Lukashenka

The European Union which believed promises of the Belarusian authorities after December 19, 2010, looks silly.

This statement was made by President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek in a special interview to BelaPAN news agency.

“But we will not leave a hope for positive changes in Belarus,” he said. “We should remain optimistic and hope for better. We had been waiting for changes in Poland for a long time and our dreams came true. You are dreaming today, but your dreams will come true in some years.”

Buzek underlined that the EU counted on changes in Belarus in spite of everything. “We hope, but we should be very careful,” he noted.
