The coordinating committee for holding the People’s Assemblies launches a campaign of active boycott of the election imitation to the marionette “chamber of representatives.”

It has been said by a politician Viktar Ivashkevich to BelaPAN.

As said by him, on January 14 another session of the coordination council of the People Assemblies.

“Plenipotentiaries of the People’s Assemblies from 14 cities of Belarus have discussed the situation in the country, formulated opinion on the situation in the country and the operations plan for 2012. They have stated that the economic and political situation is deteriorating in every social group, in every region. The authorities have not fulfilled a single economic demand of the People’s Assemblies, showed their incapability to defend the Belarusian society from poverty. As a result of shady procedures Belarus’ strategic business assets have passed into the hands of foreigners, which has already put at risk the independence of our country,” Ivashkevich said.

The authorities are not going to stop the policy of total rigging the election results, and thus “another farce is being prepared, and participation in it is impossible for responsible citizens,” he said.

Proceeding from these facts, the council starts an active boycott campaign against the election imitation to the marionette “chamber of representatives” under the slogan: “Boycott to false election. Say “No” to Lukashenka!”

Ivashkevich noted that the active form of boycott should include an informational campaign for popularization of the realistic program of the social, economic and political crisis overcoming; demands to release all political prisoners, election of a new president, new parliament and leaders of all levels in a free election; cancellation of compulsory short-term contracts. Ivashkevich believes that boycott of the parliamentary election is in fact a referendum of no-confidence to Lukashenka.

Besides, initiators of the People Assemblies demand to stop price rise, indexation of ruble deposits of the population, indexation of salaries, pensions, bursaries; targeted financial aid in correspondence with the price rise.

The initiators of the People Assemblies are set to take an active part in all-nation campaign of grass-root observation “For Just election” with the aim to spot falsifications.

“The Council starts preparation for holding mass People Assemblies on the day before the Election Day or immediately after it, as a form of immediate democracy with a demand to fulfill economic demands of the population, release of political prisoners, free new election of a new president and a new parliament,” Ivashkevich stated.
