Belarusian activists organized a series of opinion polls on interpolit.net website regarding the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Belarus.

“I think taking part in these elections is a contribution to legitimization of the illegitimate authorities. National boycott supported by all political forces is the only right decision,” participants of polls say on the debate page. Ihar Koktysh, the founder of interpolit.net, notes the debates had begun last weekend, but the tendency can already be noticed.

“The observation during the last few days allows stating most people vote for boycott on absolutely different social networking websites (VKontakte, Facebook and others). The majority votes for boycott. We can make conclusions on these grounds. Of course, the number of respondents is not sufficient to talk about percentage, but most of them stand for boycott.”

The parliamentary elections in Belarus are supposed to be held not later than one month prior to the expiration of the powers of the current “parliament” (October 25, 2012). It means the elections will be carried out by September 25. The electoral campaign will start in June.
