Ales Byalyatski’s wife met with her husband

Human rights defender Ales Byalyatski, who is in a detention facility in Zhidzina now, feels normal.

His wife Natallya Pinchuk told BelaPAN she had a meeting with her husband on January 27.

According to her, the meeting lasted about an hour. “Ales feels normal. He has no complains about his health and sends greetings to everyone. We talked about the latest news, our family and so on,” Pinchuk said.

She noted the detention facility in Zhodzina did not receive a ruling of the Minsk City Court on dismissing Byalyatski’s cassation appeal. “I was told Byalyatski would be transferred to a colony within ten days after receiving the ruling. It is unknown yet where he will be sent to,” Pinchuk said.

The wife of the convicted human rights activist says the term of ten days is rather relative. “They can send him to colony earlier or later. It depends on the appointed time of transfer.”
