Uladzimir Baradach: Buggered by regime, they lowered down entire country
- 11.02.2012, 17:02
The Committee of Belarusian Officers (CBO) addresses all political prisoners.
“For the sake of our Motherland’s interests” the Committee asks them “to write a petition for pardon to illegitimate president.” “It is not admission of your guild or weakness. You have won, as you have won trust and respect of our citizens… We need you at large to continue struggle for Belarus,” Colonel Uladzimir Baradach is convinced.
“Belarusian partisan” has received the address of the CBO chairman Colonel Uladzimir Baradach (Vladimir Baradach) which could be considered a political manifesto of officers. We offer the full text of the appeal:
“It is impossible to achieve changes as long as there is no united opposition in the country. Talks about “ideological differences” inside the opposition are groundless. It is a smokescreen to hide collusion with the authorities of the country. It is an experience of 18 years’ coexistence with the regime. Only conditions of holding the thwarted presidential election could be discussed with the authorities.
To the present day the best people of our country are languishing in prisons: presidential candidates Andrei Sannikov, Mikola Statkevich, Belarusian patriots Zmitser Bandarenka, Paval Sevyarynets, Zmitser Dashkevich, Eduard Lobau, Mikalai Autukhovich, Ihar Alinevich, Alyakasndr Frantskevich, Mikalai Dzyadok, Yauhen Vaskovich, Paval Syramalotau, Artsyom Prakapenka, Syarhei Kavalenka, Alyaksandr Krutoj, Alyaksandr Mauchanau, a human rights activist Ales Byalyatski.
Our right of choice, votes of millions of Belarusian citizens, the Constitution and the future of our Motherland are behind the bars with them.
We address all political prisoners for the sake of our Motherland’s interests to write “a plea” for “pardon” to the illegitimate president. It is not admission of your guild or weakness. You have won, as you have won trust and respect of our citizens. We bow to your courage and perseverance. Even we, war veterans, who had been cripples in the battles for interests of our Motherland, who have seen arbitrariness and lawlessness in our country, admire your faith and love to your land, the desire to restore the constitutional order in your country, as the future is impossible without that. During the war one can lose one’s life, but save honour and dignity. And here your lives are kept alive, but they are truing to turn you into nonentities. It is an unbearable torture for people with self-respect. But we should understand that we are struggling with people who are deprived of honour, conscience and dignity. They despise all human norms and notions. Those “buggered” by the regime have lowered down the entire country, as we are communicating with them every day. You are trying to help Belarus to get up off its knees, that is why you suffer from humiliating treatment. These people should be talked to in their language.
We need you at large to continue struggle for Belarus. You have proved to our citizens that you can go all the way and lead them to democracy and progress. We have no doubts about your motives and sincerity, about your adamancy and convictions. We shall support you always and in everything.
There are doubts that Lukashenka would keep his word given publicly, but you will demonstrate to the whole world once again that he is guided by dark instincts only, and it will prove his legal incapacitation.
The time comes when even the dictator has an opportunity to make a choice between self-destruction and repentance.
Lukashenka isolates his rivals, while his henchmen in the guise of democrats are allowed to travel around the world misleading our population and the civilized world.
In our country there is no organized opposition which wants changes. During the election some leaders of parties and of organizations created by special services agreed to collaboration with the regime, and are still serving the regime. That is why they have lost credibility, but also trust of many supporters of their parties, and especially common citizens.
Even the weakest dictatorial regime cannot topple without opposition. You should join in the work for creation of systemic, united opposition. It will express interests of the majority, attract new supporters from the civil society, the establishment and business circles. It should catch interest and attract alliance partners from abroad (from the East or West).
Both opponents and supporters of the regime will become plainly visible for internal and external forces. With whom Europe or Lukashenka could sit down at the negotiating table today? Lukashenka does not want to come to the negotiating table with his agents even for the sake of the game. Informants are despised even by their masters. Our organization would make struggle and choice of everyone easier. If the West would have a desire to continue supporting and meeting with political agents of the regime, let God judge them. If Moscow would like to continue supporting Lukashenka, to the detriment of the national interests of the Belarusian and Russian nations, it is their choice. In such a case our path would be more difficult. With allies or without, we should go this way. We had not been fighting for the interests of the “family”, we have been fighting for Motherland. Believe us and come with us.”
A note. The Congress of Belarusian Officers (CBO) was founded by Yury Zakharanka in 1999. Before the statutory meeting on May 7, 1999 Zakharanka disappeared, and the statutory meeting was held in half an hour after the abduction of the former Interior Affairs minister.
