European parliament’s chairman asked to rescue Syarhei Kavalenka immediately

  • 11.02.2012, 17:05

The member of the Conservative Christian party – Belarusian Popular Front continues hunger strike behind the bars.

We remind that since December 22 Kavalenka is kept in the remand prison in Vitsebsk. He is charged with multiple breaches of the terms of probation (correctional labour while staying at home). He was sentenced to that punishment after he hanged a white-red-white flag in Vitsebsk. For almost 2 months Syarhei Kavalenka continues a hunger strike, despite of the fact that there had been many attempts to feed him forcefully, Euroradio informs.

MEP Marek Migalski asks the chairman of the European Parliament Martin Schulz to go into the question of the Belarusian oppositionist, in order to save his life. Every hour is important, Migalski stressed. Such addresses had been sent by the MEP to other bodies of the European Union as well.
