Statkevich taken out for walk in summer shoes at -25°C

Maryna Adamovich received a letter from her husband Mikalai Statkevich, a Belarusian presidential candidate at the 2010 election.

The political prisoner jokes even in prison, but new details about tortures have been revealed, radio Racyja reports.

“He writes jokingly about the dogs that guard him during walks. I wrote he should be ashamed that doggies have to walk in cold due to him and I will complain at him. He answered the doggies did not freeze because they only accompanied him from the cell to the prison yard. He writes he wears summer shoes in the yard. He was not given winter boots even at -25°C,” the wife of the political prisoner says.

Mikalai Statkevich was sentenced to six years in a medium security penal colony. On January 12, he was declared a malicious offender of prison rules on the initiative of the prison authorities, who think Statkevich intends to “continue criminal lifestyle”. Mikalai Statkevich was sentenced to three years in a close prison without no right of appeal against the court decision.
