Ales Byalyatski sent a postcard asking to pass him food, but staff of Valadarka prison refused to accept a parcel for him.
On February 25, Ales Byalyatski's wife Natallya Pinchuk, went to the prison in Valadarski Street to pass him a food parcel he had asked for. The attempt was unsuccessful. Natallya Pinchuk tells Radio Svabdoa:
“I visited the prison in Valadarski Street. I was told Alyaksandr was still there. As of his future, it's not clear yet. As he writes in the latest letter he sent on February 23: “Uncertainty is a constant feature of my today's life.” It's hard to say when he will be transferred to a penal colony, Conditionally speaking, he is in the new old place now, but he cannot receive parcels. I tried to figure it out, but I was told parcels for him were banned. He asked to pass him food, but I was not allowed. It's strange. Before the previous transfer, we passed him a parcel in Zhodzina, so he could be able to take some food with him. I'm afraid he's run out of food by now.”
Ales Byalyatski, the leader of Viasna human rights centre, is Valadarka prison waiting for the transfer to the penal colony in Babruisk, where he is to serve his 4.5-year sentence. The human rights activist has already served 6 months of his sentence.
