Svyatlana Chornaya from Minsk, who went on hunger strike protesting against the verdict against Kanavalau and Kavalyou, has lost 25 kilograms of her weigh.
The woman says she has been on hunger strike since November 30, 2011. According to Svyatlana Chornaya, she planned to terminate her hunger strike but later changed her mind. “It was a kind of a breaking point and I do not want to stop the hungry strike now. I've already stopped losing weight. I do not feel pain any more. I have a feeling that I have my body, but at the same time I do not have it. I have a feeling I do not need food any more. I've heard it sometimes happens that the body switches to another mode,” the woman told BelaPAN.
Chornaya received a telephone call last week from former member of the House of Representatives Syarhei Skrabets, who has experience in political hunger striking. “He said how to recover after the hunger strike, what should I drink and eat. But I do not need to stop my hunger strike now,” Svyatlana says. She continue to drink only water.
Chornaya had a medical check two weeks ago. Doctors said her stomach had descanted due to “malnutrition or loss of appetite”. The woman did not tell them she was on hunger strike.
Svyatlana Chornaya also says her appeal regarding the death sentences to Kanavalau and Kavalyou was registered in the Russian State Duma, which was informed to her in an official notice.
