Zmitser Bandarenka’s application to be heard February 8

According to the information from the penal colony in Mahilou, Zmitser Bandarenka’s application for a pardon will be heard on February 8.

The date of the release of Zmitser Bandarenka depends on when his application is signed by Alyaksandr Lukashenka if signed at all, Radio Svaboda has learned from the Mahilou penal colony. The colony staff says the application will be heard in the colony on February 8:

“A decision on the application will be announced later. He must appear before the review board and then we will send materials to the pardon commission under Lukashenka. If everything goes to the plan, the application will be heard on Wednesday.”

On February 4, Zmitser Bandarenka told his wife on the phone he had applied for a pardon on February 1.

We remind that Zmitser Bandarenka, the coordinator of European Belarus civil campaign, was attested by Belarusian authorities on December 20, 2010, after he had taken part in thousands protest demonstration on Independence Square against the rigged elections.

On April 27, the politician was sentenced to two years in a minimum security penal colony.
