David Swartz addresses Belarusian in Belarusian language

The first US ambassador to Belarus, David Swartz, has addressed the people of Belarus in their native language on occasion of the 20th anniversary of opening the Embassy of the US in Minsk.

The people of Belarus and the United States joined together in the historic event - twenty years ago today the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus, again independent after 70 years of Soviet repression, and the United States of America. I was lucky to play a role in the initiation and implementation of those relations,” David Swartz said at the beginning of his address, Radio Svaboda reports.
