Minsk City Court approves fingerprinting outrage

The Minsk City Court upheld the judegement of the Kastrychnitski district court of Minsk in the case against Ruslan Nevar, who refused to undergo a fingerprinting procedure due to his religious beliefs.

The case was heard by judge Syarhei Khrypach, Viasna human rights centre reports.

On April 6, the Kastrychnitski district court obliged Ruslan Nevar to pay a fine of 4 million rubles for failure to obey a lawful order of an official on duty (article 23.4 of the Code on Administrative Offences of Belarus).

Judge Maksim Lapko, who conducted trial in the court of first instance, ignored numerous violations made by policemen during drawing up an offence report.

Ruslan Nevar is going to further appeal against the unfair court decision.
