Activists are barred from taking part in the meeting of the initiative for changing the electoral legislation.
Today at about 1 a.m. several police department detained 37 persons at the railway station of Polatsk.
Law-enforcement officers did not like it that the order “not to gather in groups of more than three persons”. In a few minutes everyone was released. The activists were not even taken to the police department.
Interestingly, people received freedom right after the train Polatsk-Minsk departed. And all the persons detained planned to go to the meeting of Dzmitry Uss initiative aimed at changing the electoral legislation, “Svobodny region” website informs.
Seven activists were detained in Brest region. On May 1 in Minsk they wanted to take part in the meeting of the initiative group for changing the electoral legislation.
As BelaPAN has been informed by the coordinator of the initiative in Brest region Viktar Chajkouski, on May 1 at about 9 a.m. a car of Uladzimir Katrych was detained at the road near Kobryn.
“The reason was that Katrych allegedly had phony driver’s licence. According to information known at 10.30 a.m. Katrych and two other Brest dwellers who were on the way to the meeting in his car with him, are kept in the police department of Kobryn,” noted Chajkouski.
As said by him, on the same day at about 8.30 a.m. policemen detained four local activists of democratic forces in Baranavichy at a railway station. At 8.50 a.m. they planned to depart for Minsk in a train.
“I think these are provocations, and their aim is to prevent participation of activists in the event planned in Minsk for today,” Chajkouski said.
The leadership of Vitsebsk branch of Moladz BNF Alyaksandr Kuznyatsou was kept in the police department for about an hour.
As said by the activist, he was detained on the trolley bus, when he planned to go to the railway station: “I came out of my house, and I saw a police car on the bus stop. I decided to risk and go to the trolley bus. Policemen came up to me there, and detained me. They drew up an administrative report that I had allegedly crossed the road in a wrong place, and then released me.” As a result, the activist was late for the train to Minsk. Kuznyatsou also wanted to take part in the constituent meeting of the initiative of the former candidate for presidency Dzmitry Uss for changing the electoral legislation.
