Belarus does not consider it necessary to  increase the number of Polish consular officers in the country.

Andrei Savinykh, a spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a briefing on Tuesday in Minsk “The Polish side earlier addressed us with this proposal”. According to him, the MFA does not think an increase in the number of consular officer is the only decision to speed up issuing visas to Belarusian citizens, Interfax news agency reports.

He added 26 Polish consular officers worked in Belarus, while the number of Belarusian officers in Poland was far less with the same scope of work. “The desired effect can be achieved by releasing consular officers from unnecessary functions and reorganizing the process,” Savinykh noted.
