The first educational institution in Belarus and the CIS for women only, Envila Women’s Institute, is to stop enrolling prospective university students, and is to be reorganized soon.
“There is no decision of the Education Ministry of Belarus so far, but there is a request of our owners,” Interfax.by was told at the institute.
“We are economically unprofitable,” representatives of the institute noted, reminding that in 2011 Envila Women’s Institute failed to reach the declared target of admission.
“Our girls are going to be transferred to other universities by entire faculties. We already have a preliminary agreement: economists are to study at the Belarusian State University, psychologists at the Belarusian State Teachers’ Training University named after Maxim Tank,” told representatives of the university. “It’s a great pity. After 18 years of our activities we have to carry out reorganizing.”
“A decision to enroll students or not is to be made by the educational institution itself. We have approved the procedure of admission for the year 2012 for them,” representatives of the Ministry of Education of Belarus said.
As of today, information on Open Days-2012 is posted at the website of the university, but the procedure of admission is as in the last year.
They were not able to survive for a year: the issue of reorganizing Envila Women’s’ University was discussed at the level of the Education Ministry in 2011. In case the women’s’ institute reorganization, the total number of higher education institutions in Belarus would be equal to 54.
