On May 3 “For Freedom” movement in Brest launched a county-wide campaign in support of national symbols, dedicated to the referendum of 1995.
The aim of the campaign is to remind Belarusians about national symbols. Activists of the movement have prepared white-red-white ribbons, and offered them to Brest dwellers. Drivers’ reaction to this campaign was positive, and they willingly decorated their cars’ aerials with ribbons, BelaPAN writes.
“By the today’s action “For Freedom” movement starts a nation-wide campaign for dissemination f white-red-white ribbons, dedicated to the referendum of May 14, 1995. After this referendum the authorities replaced the national symbols by the symbols offered by Lukashenka’s regime. By this campaign we want to attract attention of people to national symbols, to show that the majority of people respect national symbols. We suggest attaching white-red-white ribbons to car aerials, backpacks and clothes. In coming days the actions for dissemination of white-red-white ribbons are to take place in Minsk and in other regions as well,” told the deputy chairman of “For Freedom” movement Yury Hubarevich.
