  • 30.05.2012, 12:18

On May 15, activist Mikhail Musski was convoyed from a detention centre to a military unit for compulsory military service.

He is at military unit No. 22313 (the Vitebsk region, the Lepel district, Barouka village), the website of the campaign “For Alternative Civilian Service in Belarus” reports.

Mikhail Musski applied for alternative service instead of compulsory military service about a month ago, but his application was declined. He filed a claim to the court of the Nyasvizh district demanding to cancel the decision of the call-up commission in connection with the application for alternative service.

Under the Belarusian legislation, a decision of the call-up commission cannot be implemented once a claim is registered in court. So, sending Mikhail to the army before hearing his claim in court was unlawful.

The claim against the decision of the call-up commission will be heard in the court of the Nyasvizh district at 11 am on June 1.
