Syarhei Kavalenka locked into solitary confinement cell

Syarhei Kavalenka stays in a solitary confinement cell of Vitsebsk remand prison Nr 2.

BelaPAN has been informed about that by his wife Alena Kavalenka.

“Syarhei has been transferred from Minsk on May 8 overnight. The lawyer met with him today. My husband does not feel very well. It was the fourth prison transfer for him, which is in fact a torture for a man enfeebled after a hunger strike. On May 10 I will try to break through to him myself,” Alena Kavalenka said.

The activist stayed in the same remand prison for the first two months of his imprisonment, and almost all the time he spent in a solitary confinement cell as well. “I am worried that he has been transferred to the place where he was on a hunger strike in the first two months of his imprisonment, and where provocations were carried out against him, including making a video clip which affected not only Syarhei, but his children. A complaint to the prosecutor’s office on this occasion has been filed,” Kavalenka informs.
