Dmitry Medvedev called the Prime Ministers of Belarus and Kazakhstan to exploring the question of introducing a single currency.

Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said at the business forum "SES: New Opportunities for Industrial Development”.

The Prime Minister proposed to think about the possibility of introducing a single currency within the Eurasian Economic Union, which is planned to establish by 1 January 2015.

Also he said that Russia will support its Customs Union partners in the negotiations on accession to the WTO

“In any case we will provide every kind of assistance to our partners on the WTO negotiating track,” said the Russian head of government. In his opinion, the Customs Union will accelerate the entry of its member states to the WTO. “At some point we all were sent a clear and unequivocal message: If you do this (create the Customs Union – note by BelTA), we will not admit you to the WTO. But never mind, they admitted us. They will admit you, they will admit everybody,” Dmitry Medvedev said.

According to him, the formation of the Customs Union, the SES and in the future the Eurasian Union is creating new conditions for doing business. Today in St. Petersburg we will sign a memorandum that provides for the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Commission Advisory Board, which will help provide better feedback between businessmen and government officials. “It is important that the ministries should hear the voice of business, especially in the current environment. The business community should appoint their coordinators who will make recommendations on specific activities. I have no illusions that our work will be problem free or that the Customs Union will create immediately a huge number of business conglomerates. However, in part that will meet your perception of the need for integration, we will assist you organizationally and economically,” Dmitry Medvedev said.

The Russian head of government stressed that the mutual trade in the Customs Union increased by 36% to $125 billion. This means that the integration works.
