Presentation of the analytical centre was held in the University of Warsaw.

The Belarusian analytical centre will work under direction of sociologist Professor Andrei Vardamatski.

The analytical centre is expected to become a place for scientific and analytical researches in political, social and economic processes taking place in Belarus and a ground for Belarusian independent researches and scientists living abroad.

The centre director noted it is this thought that “forms the being, present and future; it will be impossible to understand future processes in the country without understanding of current events in the country”.

Belarusian economist Leanid Zlotnikau and politologist Pavel Usau highlighted the main problems of political and political areas and evaluated the current geopolitical situation in Belarus during the presentation.

Zlotnikau emphasized the economic “Belarusian miracle” did not exist and had never existed. The existing model has always been and remains a result of all-round support from Russia.

Politologist Usau revealed the reasons for the support showing Russia's aim was to restore the empire under the name of the Eurasian Union. Belarus takes the priority place in Moscow's desires and this explains economic and political support of the Lukashenka regime.

Vardamatski presented some results of social surveys, in particular relating to geopolitical views of Belarusians. Opinions polls record that after a three-year increase in pro-Russian moods, the opposite process – a growth of pro-European moods – has been noticed in the last three months. Time will show if it will be a long-time trend.

The analytical centre presentation was held in Potocki Palace at the University of Warsaw.

Director of the East European Studies Centre, Jan Malicki, welcomed the audience.

Representatives of the Polish analytical community, Polish NGOs, Belarusian diaspora and diplomats attended the event.
