The authorities take the forthcoming “parliamentary election” seriously because they don't know how the situation may develop.

This opinion was expressed by politologist Pavel Usau on air of Belsat TV channel.

The expert is confident the parliamentary election campaign will be held in harsh conditions, because the authorities are scared of the eventss in Africa and post-Soviet countries, when elections caused a social outbreak.

The authorities did not forget the latest presidential election, when society suddenly decided to express discontent with the existing system.

The politologist thinks the Belarus's top officials regard the election as a special “opportunity to legitimate power, in particular the legislative branch”.

The expert emphasized the authorities would use this opportunity to show the world “the country has certain democratic processes and does not differ from foreign states”.
