Wolfram Maas likely to become new German ambassador to Belarus

  • 11.07.2012, 12:24

The German cabinet has approved the appointment of Wolfram Maas as the country's new ambassador to Belarus.

The German foreign ministry and the German diplomatic mission in Minsk have declined so far to either confirm or deny his appointment.

Christof Weil, who became German ambassador to Belarus in August 2010, has already left the country upon the expiration of his term.

Born in 1950, Mr. Maas served with the German embassies in the United States and India and the German mission to the OSCE in Vienna. His most recent job was ambassador to Serbia.
