Brest authorities promote loyal candidate

The local state media have already launched a campaign to promote the chief doctor of Brest City Emergency Hospital Valyantin Milasheuski, though an agitation campaign has not started officially.
As charter97.org reports, just after the election commission of Tsentralny constituency of Brest No. 2 registered an initiative group to nominate Milasheuski a parliamentary candidate, city dwellers began to say signatures for him were gathered even in doctor's offices in polyclinic No. 6 and other medical facilities. Valyantin Milasheuski and members of his initiative team use premises of state organizations in working hours and involve officials in gathering signatures.
In addition, Zarya newspaper, founded by the Brest region executive committee and the regional council, published two articles during a week about the future aspirant for a parliament seat. One of the article praises the administration of the city emergency hospital headed by Milasheuski. The other one writes about personal qualities of the would-be civil servant describing him as a professional in medicine and “a citizen who devoted himself to people”.
As charter97.org has learned, a complaint was filed to election commission of Tsentralny constituency of Brest No. 2 at the activity of Milasheuski and his group, who promote their candidate, though an official electoral campaign has not been announced yet, and use means and resources of state bodies thus violating the principle of equal rights for all parliamentary candidates set in the Electoral Code.
Though the complaint demands to ensure compliance with the law and take measures (up to denial of registration of a candidate) in case serious violations are found, no one doubts the constituency election commission will not dare to issue a even a warning over ignoring the Electoral Code.
