Marieluise Beck has become a godparenthood of the political prisoner Ihar Alinevich

Marieluise Beck, the Bundestag deputy from the Green Party, declared her guardianship over Ihar Alinevich.

In her statement of trusteeship over the political prisoner Marieluise Beck points out that he was abducted by unknown persons during his stay in Moscow and delivered to Belarusian KGB, that unauthorized physical and psychological measures were applied to the accused during interrogations, that they were serious violations of constitutional principles during the court that sentenced the young man to 8 years in prison, informs "Radio Svaboda".

"I don't suport the Ideas of anarchists in Belarus, - points out Marieluise Beck. However, these people do have the right to count on the compliance with the constitutional principles during the consideration of their cases. Bearing in mind that in Belarus this is not satisfied I decided to become a trustee of the political prisoner. I demand the release of Ihar Alinevich and a fair investigation of his case," - stated the Bundestag deputy.

Earlier Marieluise Beck was a godparenthood of a political prisoner ex-presidential candidate Andrew Sannikov.

The Prisoner’s Godparenthood campaign which was initiated by German-Swiss organization "Libereco — Partnership for Human Rights" is to provide support for every Belarusian political prisoner and her family from the side of European politicians.

Trustees take obligations to monitor the problems of this or that political prisoner, to help his family, to spread information about Belarusian political prisoners in their own countries.
