Tatsiana Revyaka: Silence of Abramava contributed to falsification of the "elections"

The human rights activist believes: if a former deputy could tell about the crime that time, today the electoral mechanisms might work differently.

Tatsiana Revyako member of the Human Rights Centre "Viasna" commented to the website charter97.org on the statement of the former member of the Supreme Council and the "house of representatives" Volha Abramava about the mechanism of falsification of the "elections" in 2008 after four years of silence.

"We watched those elections in 2008, and even then we said what today have told Volha Abramava. So sorry that it took her so long to tell about the fraud. Perhaps, now electoral mechanisms could have a chance to work in a different way, if she could reveal the mechanism of falsification immediately. Well, she told about this, but it is too bad that it took her so long to tell us about the crime, which she knew", - said the human rights activist.

"Unfortunately, two campaigns were held since those "elections". These are the third elections. And the fact that Volha Abramava didn’t say anything then, has contributed to the fact that the "elections" continue to be falsified. This silence has large consequences for the Belarusian people", - says Tatsiana Revyaka.

"It's a pity that she had the courage to expose the fraud only now. I know many people who struggle with falsification of the "elections" and lose their freedom. And other people at the same time do not have the courage to tell about the crime, of which they are aware,"- noted the human rights activist.

Recall, on September 10, on the eve of the “parliamentary elections”, the former member of the Supreme Council and the "house of representatives" Volha Abramava told reporters on how the results of "elections" in her Minsk district № 108 on the previous "elections" in 2008 were falsified. The MP revealed details of events, which were kept secret for 4 years.
