Litvina not included in Media Supervisory Council

Representatives of the Ministry of Information, the official Union of Journalists and state media found her membership in the council unnecessary.
The head and deputy head of the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ), Zhanna Litvina and Andrei Bastunets, were not included in the Supervisory Council for Compliance with the Rules for Electioneering through the Media. Mikhail Lyabedzik, a council member and deputy editor of SB – Belarus Segonya newspaper, said their presence in the Council was found “unnecessary”, Euroradio reports.
He added members of the Supervisory Council gave recommendations, but couldn't make decisions. The Central Election Commission asked council members about their opinion on the people proposed for enrollment in the council.
We remind that Ihar Lyalkou, a member of the Central Election Commission with a consultative vote, offered on September 5 to include BAJ head Zhanna Litvina, BAJ deputy head Andrei Bastunets and deputy editor of Nasha Niva newspaper Dzmitry Pankavets in the Council. The Supervisory Council consists of seven representatives of the Ministry of Information, the Belarusian Union of Journalists, state-owned press and the National Television and Radio Company.
