The Supreme Court of Belarus refused to register the public association Young Christian Democrats.
As the press-secretary of the MChD’s organizational committee Maryna Khomich noted, the refusal was not unexpected, the press-service of BChD reports.
“This refusal shows that there is not judiciary in Belarus and the Constitution is worth nothing. Any alternative, even in the sphere of public associations is under a ban in Belarus. Nevertheless, we will continue our work so the alternative to pro-government organizations exists in our country”, - Maryna Khomich emphasized.
The constituent assembly of the organization Young Christian Democrats took place in Minsk on 3 November 2012. 60 delegates from all the regions of Belarus were present. According to the statute, MChD is a republican youth public association, uniting citizens on voluntary basis for joint implementation of civic, social, cultural and other rights. MChD is a secular, non-religious association, the activities of which embrace the whole country.
In January 2013 the Ministry of Justice sent a letter in which it announced of the suspension of the public association’s registration for a month. In February MChD was finally refused a registration.
