Prime Minister Myasnikovich discusses renovation of Minsk National Airport with Russian company's CEO.

The possible renovation of Minsk National Airport was discussed by Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich and Roman Trotsenko, CEO of Russia's AEON Corporation, at a meeting in Minsk on May 22.

The meeting was also attended by Sergei Rudakov, head of AEON's subsidiary Novaport Company.

According to the press office of the Belarusian Council of Ministers, under discussion was the possibility of investing in the modernization of the airport and its transformation into a regional transport hub.

They also discussed the possibility of launching new routes by Belarus' national airline Belavia and building a new aircraft repair plant.

Founded by Mr. Trotsenko in 2007, AEON Corporation controls more than 30 companies that operate in various sectors.

Deputy Prime Minister Anatol Kalinin told reporters last month that the modernization of Minsk National Airport had already begun and would be completed in 2013.

The government continues to look for investors to build a second runway and a new international terminal at the airport, he said.
