New British Ambassador Arrived In Minsk

Jacqueline Perkins is a career diplomat with 30 years of experience.
A new British ambassador to Belarus, Jacqueline Perkins, has arrived in Minsk. She came to the new job together with her pets - two dogs, Sparky and Cassidy, the British Embassy informs.
According to the embassy, the pets used to travel with the owner "through the diplomatic missions".
Recall that Jacqueline Perkins is a career diplomat with 30 years of experience, mainly in Arab countries. In addition to service in the Foreign Ministry in London, Perkins worked in the British embassies in the UAE, Egypt, Bahrain, while in her last position she was deputy head of mission in Kuwait. Since 2018, she has been studying Russian.
Jacqueline Perkins is married with two children.
The new ambassador succeeded Fiona Gibb, who worked in Minsk for about 3.5 years. In Belarus, she regularly criticized the human rights situation in the country, called for investigations into the high-profile disappearances of 1999-2000, and promoted the fight against domestic violence and the abolition of the death penalty.
