Now also at the BSTU.

The list of universities with a military department has been expanded in Belarus. Now, students of the Belarusian State Technological University will also be able to receive the rank of reserve lieutenant while studying. This is reported by the National Legal Portal, writes tut.by.

As a result, military training can now take place at seven military faculties and six military departments. There are military faculties in the BSU, BNTU, BSUIR, Belarusian State Medical University, Academy of Aviation, Belarusian State Transport University (Homel), and the State University named after Yanka Kupala (Hrodna), and military departments - at the Academy of Communications, Vitsebsk State University named after P.M. Masherau (Vitsebsk), Hrodna, Vitsebsk and Homel medical universities, as well as in the BSTU.

“The issue of opening another military department is under consideration,” said Ihar Slutsky, head of the military education department of the Ministry of Defense, in July. “I will not name the university where it will appear yet, I can only say it is located in one of the belarusian regions.”

The training program at military departments (military faculties) is designed for 2.5 years. First, the guys master the program of junior commanders. Then they pass the exam. Those who did the test better than the others continue training as reserve officers.

In the case of a military draft, those who have passed only the first stage will have to serve in the army for six months. After completing the entire course, they are assigned the rank of a reserve lieutenant after graduation.

“They are not drafted for conscript military service, but according to the decree of the president, a young man can be called up for military service under contract for a year,” Ihar Slutsky explained. “Whom they will draft - tankers, motorized rifles shooters or, for example, scouts - it depends on the order of the Ministry of Defense. I note that over the past three years, a hundred people have been drafted this way. This is about a tenth of all the reserve officers who graduate annually.

There are always a lot of people wishing to undergo training at military departments. Perhaps after the adoption of the “law on postponements”, their number will become even greater.
