Ihar Losik: I Will End the Hunger Strike Only After All Charges Against Me Are Dropped

The blogger decided on the last resort.

Blogger and political prisoner Ihar Losik explained the reason for his hunger strike and appealed to the Belarusians. The text of his appeal was published by the Belarus golovnogo mozga Telegram channel.

- I went on a hunger strike because I no longer have any opportunity to influence the unfounded accusations and my unlawful detention. I am unjustly deprived of my freedom and the opportunity to see my family.

I have already spent six months in prison on an absurd charge of a crime, for the commission of which I would have to use a teleport. I had and still have an alibi, but the investigation ignored this for six months.

I've missed a lot over the past six months. The most upsetting thing is that I did not hear my daughter's first words.

Six months later, I was charged with another absurd charge - preparation for participation in mass riots. How is this possible if there was no question of any "riots" at all before my arrest? How is this possible if, at that time, it was not known how the registration of presidential candidates would end? According to the investigation, it is possible. Apparently, from their perspective, I can predict the future, or I have a time machine.

And in my entire life I have never participated in any "unsanctioned" mass event, let alone mass riots. What are the riots with a one-year-old daughter in your arms?

That is why, having thought it over well, having weighed all the pros and cons, I decided to take such an extreme measure to try to achieve justice.

I am aware that, following the announcement of a hunger strike, pressure may begin on me: I may be transferred to a solitary cell or a punishment cell, deprived of my personal belongings, letters, the press, and communication with a lawyer. I am aware that I may have serious health problems or even die. For the sake of justice, for the sake of the opportunity to hug my daughter again, I am ready to go all the way. I still believe in the remnants of the conscience of those people who control the investigation of the ethyl phony charges.

I hope for the support of all caring Belarusians.

I ask for support from international organizations, ambassadors of the European Union countries in the Republic of Belarus, governments of democratic states in drawing attention to the gross injustice and restoring my rights and the rights of hundreds of other political prisoners.

Help the innocent return home. Our family, like the families of other prisoners of conscience, has suffered enough lately.

I will end the hunger strike only after all charges against me are dropped, or my preventive measure is changed.
