Diagnosis Of Belarusian Agriculture: "Industry Is Barely Breathing"

A veterinarian working out the postgraduate assignment showed a swamp where calves are kept on a farm.

Veterinary surgeon Andrei diagnosed the Belarusian agriculture: "The industry is barely breathing".

The guy, working out the postgraduate assignment on the Ahraharadok farm, told about it in an interview with the Present Time project of the Unknown Belarus.

Andrei showed the journalists a swamp where the calves are kept. According to him, the roof of the barn may collapse.

- The calves are in the street, because there's nowhere to place them, - the veterinary surgeon explains. - This is a violation of the keeping conditions. They stand here in the cold and survive on the lottery principle: someone is lucky, someone is not.

The body of the calf that Andrei is carrying confirms his words.

The young specialist compares his living conditions with a labour camp: a schedule of 6-7 days a week, with night shifts. He alone deals with a thousand heads.

- The working conditions are unbearable. There is simply no future here, -Andrei believes.

According to the veterinary surgeon, the state needs the postgraduate assignment to close the personnel holes:

- Young specialists are thrown like blind kittens, and then they are trained in the battle. Perhaps there would be a deplorable situation without slave labour, without such slaves as me and other young people who work in different fields.
