Famous Businessman Rejects Creation of IT-University in Belarus

  • 15.09.2020, 9:47

The decision is stipulated by the inadequacy of the ruling regime.

One of the largest Belarusian IT-businessmen shared his decision in an interview with Forbes magazine.

Before the inadequate actions of the authorities against the background of peaceful protests, Yuri Gursky and his colleagues nurtured the idea of IT-University in Belarus "according to the best Western models".

"We thought to accept no more than 1000-2000 people. We could ensure the employment of graduates in a certain pool of companies. Parents would be motivated to send talented children to such a university", the magazine quotes Gursky.

Now, he believes, such ideas are too risky.

"For example, they can just sue us if 700 out of our 2000 students hold a rally. In the end, those who opened the university will go to jail," Gursky believes.
