Aleh Dulub about the Belarusian Security Forces: I Remember the Story of Judas, Who Betrayed for 30 Pieces of Silver

  • 10.02.2021, 11:27

This money is cursed up to the seventh generation.

Coach of Krumkachy Aleh Dulub told Tribune about his vision of the situation in our country.

- What impressed you the most in the first days after the elections?

- On August 10, my cousin, who lives in Mozyr, called me and told me about what was happening in my hometown. He was returning home on a motorcycle and saw eight civilians in police uniforms kick one person. An elderly couple was standing nearby, shouting "fascists" to them. Then my brother began to circle around them to distract attention and save the man.

The next day, when he was already driving his car, he was stopped: "The head of the police department wants to talk to you." And the brother saw what was going on inside because he was detained for three days. He says that he was not touched, but others were less fortunate. He said that he went into the cell and saw an African American in it. It just turned out that he was a Belarusian who was simply beaten to the point of blue in the face. A man has six or seven ribs broken, his Achilles tendons broken! How can you beat people to such a state ?! Where is the honor of the uniform? The dictionary of Vladimir Ivanovich Dahl defines honor as "the inner moral dignity of a person, valor, honesty, nobility of soul and a clear conscience," but also as "conventional, secular, worldly nobility, often false, imaginary." Where is all this when eight people beat one? Or when a subject in a black uniform without insignia with a covered face threatens a 15-year-old with a grenade? Or when a police major, under cameras, hits a woman in broad daylight?

Volha Khizhynkova said correctly that now the time has passed to call on the security forces to observe the oath. Each of them made their conscious choice and must clearly understand what the consequences might be. Not the consequences in the physical world, much more terrible are the consequences of another order - the spiritual. In this context, I always remember the story of Judas, who betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Surely, it was a lot of money at that time, but there was blood on it. When Judas realized what he had done, he returned the amount and hanged himself. I am sure that any nation damns this kind of money. I'm not going to campaign for anyone, but I made the main conclusion for myself that this money is cursed up to the seventh generation.

- Does the news about what is happening in the country unsettle you?

- Already adapted. I flip through news feeds and watch Euronews. Increasingly, the press talks about extremism and terrorism. Let's understand the terms. Let's go to Wikipedia and read the meanings of these words. Extremism is adherence to extreme views, the use of extreme measures to achieve their goals. The most radical extremists often deny in principle any compromises, negotiations, or agreements.

Terrorism is a policy based on the systematic use of terror. One of its varieties is state terrorism. This term is used to refer to government violence against civilians. Acts of state terrorism are usually understood as unlawful detentions, murders, abductions, torture, and execution of citizens without trial or investigation, carried out by members of the security forces. Now compare this with the events that took place in Belarus. There are killed, there are wounded, there are maimed, but not a single criminal case has been initiated against the perpetrators. At the same time, when a person is hit by a car, he will be accused of causing damage to official vehicles.

- Did you understand that having signed a letter for fair elections and publicly condemning the violence, you are unlikely to find work in Belarus in the near future?

- Yes, I understood perfectly. But how do you keep it all to yourself? In the current situation, in my opinion, one cannot take a half-hearted position. Silence is now a sign of agreement. If a person does not speak out, he approves of what is happening in the country. For me, this is not a question of politics but a question of human morality. This is my vision of the situation, which I do not impose on anyone.

Let's compare this letter to another letter from athletes. The second letter does not clearly state the goal. If it is opposed to the letter of the Free Association of Athletes, then the signers of the second letter, logically, are against all six points set out in the first letter, namely:

1. Against the recognition of the President of the Republic of Belarus' elections held on August 9, 2020, invalid due to numerous facts of falsifications and pressure on election commissions. Against the requirement to hold re-elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus in accordance with all international standards, as well as the resignation of the current composition of the CEC with bringing to responsibility provided by law

2. Against the release of all citizens detained during demonstrations and not involved in illegal activities.

3. Against the release and rehabilitation of all political prisoners.

4. Against stopping the illegal activities of law enforcement officials and checking the legality of their actions, starting from the moment of collecting signatures for nomination for presidential candidates in the Republic of Belarus.

5. Against the identification and punishment of those guilty of beatings and brutal abuse of citizens detained during peaceful demonstrations. Against the fact that the leaders of the security forces responsible for the violence should resign.

6. Against the provision of full medical, psychological, legal, and material assistance to all victims of illegal actions of representatives of power structures.

But this is not the case. Instead of specific words, vague phrases.

We read further: "We consider it unacceptable and demand an end to urgent calls for public expression of political views, as well as ultimatum proposals to join a certain political opinion." Again, I do not express any political views; for me, it is a matter of human morality. What kind of politics are we talking about? Let's turn to Wikipedia again. Politics is one of the spheres of human activity in which states, represented by state authorities and their officials, as well as public institutions, realize their goals and interests. This is a matter of government authorities and their officials. Torture and beatings, interference with privacy, the humiliation of honor and dignity, murder of unarmed people - is this politics? This is a matter of human morality. Again, I am not campaigning for anyone but expressing my opinion.

We all saw how Alena Leuchanka talked with Maksim Nedasekau. It turned out that this man stands for the flag. Wait, the flag is just a symbol. It can be of any color, but it will remain a piece of cloth if it has no spiritual value. It is clear, this is a symbol, but a symbol of the people, country, people for whom you speak.

The second letter also calls for a refusal to demonstrate their citizenship. But again, an important point is missed - all athletes who have achieved at least something are individuals. Everyone has their own opinion, their own position, with which you can agree or not. Everyone makes his choice, guided, first of all, by the approval or disapproval of what is happening around him. And most importantly, in my opinion, an attempt was made to split the sports community. It never happened, and I hope it never will in the future. Belarusians are one people.
