Will Hrodna Azot Go To Gazprom?

The Italians have not got down to implementing a major project in Belarus.

Italian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belarus Mario Baldi does not rule out the possible sale of Hrodna Azot to Gazprom, the Azot Strike Committee telegram channel reported.

- It is a very important project with a cost of €1.3 billion. And the Belarusian government is now looking for an opportunity to finance the project. They are looking for major industrial partners, and perhaps Gazprom could be one of them, - Mario Baldi says.

A year ago, as a result of a competition, Italian Tecnimont S.p.A. became the general contractor responsible for building a new nitrogen complex in Belarus.

However, Belarusian authorities have recently been talking about finding an investor for Hrodna Azot.

The Italian diplomat did not answer the question whether the Italian business is still interested in this project.
