The Armed Forces of Ukraine captured an unusual trophy at the Kherson bridgehead.
The trophy of the Russian occupation troops captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kherson direction of the front confirms the major problem of the Russian army, which begins to fall apart 8 months after the start of hostilities.
A photograph of a Russian self-propelled gun with a barrel torn from an explosion was published by military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko on his Facebook page.
"Here is such a trophy our guys got on the Kherson bridgehead. I was hooked by the lack of a barrel in the turret. The trunk, as is often the case with Russians lately, was torn off," he said.
According to Kovalenko, this is another evidence that the Russians have a complex problem at the front: not only in the deteriorating logistics — the ammo supply shoulder, the shortage of a number of positions in the ammo nomenclature, but also in the barrels that cannot withstand the current rhythm of use. Kovalenko stressed that the removal from storage of equipment, many of which already had worn barrels, leads to such incidents.
"They were brought to the front after the removing from long-term storage, and the self-propelled gun or howitzer after two hours of active firing is already incapacitated. By the way, this also applies to the S-60s, which are now appearing at the front. Does someone say that the 57mm pierces armor with a bang, and does an excellent job with UAVs? Well, yes. And what is the firing accuracy of this S-60 and what level of barrel life, did anyone specify? Similarly, the D-1 howitzers, which were produced from 1943 to 1949, are now getting a second life in the combat zone. Do you think they will last for a long time? And how safe is it for the ROV crews to operate them?" he stressed.
