Country Bordering Russian Federation Announces Intention To Host Nuclear Weapons

The Russia-NATO Pact of 1997 was annulled by Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.

The 1997 pact between Russia and NATO, on the basis of which there is a conviction that the deployment of additional permanent forces of the North Atlantic Alliance in Eastern Europe is allegedly inadmissible, is dead after Moscow carried out a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine.

This point of view was voiced by the Head of the Bureau of International Policy of the President of Poland Jakub Kumoch, whose words are quoted by the office of the Polish leader.

According to him, Poland is interested in deploying NATO forces in the country. Moreover, the Polish side is in favor of deploying nuclear weapons on its territory.

Before that, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that Warsaw negotiated with the United States the possibility of connecting Warsaw to the Nuclear Sharing program.

However, later the American Foreign Office clarified that Washington currently has no plans to transfer nuclear weapons to any country that joined NATO after 1997.

The Nuclear Sharing program provides an opportunity for the member states of the North Atlantic Alliance that do not possess nuclear weapons to take part in planning the use of the nuclear potential of the military-political bloc.

Previously, within the framework of this concept, nuclear weapons were deployed on the territory of such countries as Turkey, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Italy.
