The U.S. Secretary of Defence reaffirmed the “iron commitment” to defend Poland.

Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak talked to the Pentagon's head Lloyd Austin after the missile attack on the village of Przewodów in the Lublin Voivodeship, according to the TVP TV Channel.

"I've engaged in discussions with the Pentagon's head. I have heard assurances that at any moment we can count on the support of the United States. We are also increasing the level of readiness of some military units," Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak wrote on Twitter.

U.S. Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin, in turn, said that he reaffirmed the Polish Minister of the "iron commitment" of the United States to defend Poland and readiness to help in the investigation of the missile attack on Przewodów.

According to Pentagon Spokesman General Patrick S. Ryder, the two ministers discussed "the current security situation on NATO's eastern flank, including reports of a missile attack on Polish territory".

"Secretary Austin assured Minister Błaszczak of the unwavering commitment of the United States of America to defend Poland and the readiness of the Department of Defence to assist Poland in its investigation of the incident," Patrick S. Ryder said in a statement.

On Wednesday, Błaszczak and Austin will again hold negotiations within the framework of a virtual meeting of the contact group on defense of Ukraine with the participation of ministers of 50 countries supporting Ukraine.

Let us recall that on Tuesday, 15 November, a Russian-made rocket fell in the village of Pszewodów (Lublin Voivodeship), located in eastern Poland on the border with Ukraine. Two people died.
