Elements Falling Trees, Leaving People With No Electricity In Belarus

The orange level alert has been announced again in Belarus today.
In Belarus, an orange level alert was again announced on Wednesday due to rain, thunderstorms, and strong wind. Meanwhile, the press services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Belenergo reported on the “spontaneous” results of the previous day, at least in some regions of the country, writes zerkalo.io.
The strongest blow of bad weather has so far hit the Hrodna region: heavy rainfall, wind with gusts of up to 20 m/s, and a thunderstorm front. The Ministry of Emergency Situations recorded 25 reports of trees falling on the roadway in the western regions of the region in Berastavitsa, Hrodna, Navahradak, Masty, Shchychyn, Ashmiany, Svislach and Iuye districts. In the Zelva district, a tree fell in the courtyard of a private house. In the city of Hrodna, rescuers went to saw the remains of the trees three times. One fallen tree damaged a parked car on Sanatornaya Street. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the area.
At the same time, during thunderstorms, electricity supply was periodically disrupted in 110 settlements of the region. Electricity has now been restored everywhere. Also, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations had to pump out water from flooded basements several times.
In the Mahiliou region, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports nine fallen trees that had to be removed. The cases happened in different parts of the region. At the same time, three cars were damaged by fallen trees in Mahiliou, and two more in Shklou. No harm was done.
In the Brest region, it was windy in almost all districts, the wind broke off large branches of trees, uprooted trees, reports RUE “Brestenergo”.
Breaks in power lines happened due to this. Outages were recorded at 55 substations. As of 7 am on Wednesday, power outages were still observed in 30 populated areas.
