“We expect construction to have been completed by July 15. We renewed the contracts with subcontractors due to objective geological reasons that emerged during the installation of supports,” says Maciej Wąsik, deputy head of the Polish Interior Ministry.

It is reported that the biggest problem during the construction of the wall was groundwater, which was formed as a result of thaws and flooding. The builders still have to lay seven more kilometers of the barrier.

The installation of electronic surveillance and control systems on the five-meter-high fence on the Polish side will last until mid-September. The total cost of the project, including technical equipment, amounted to about $400 million.
