Two completely different approaches to national culture.
The heads of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States at the summit in Bishkek came to a consensus regarding an agreement on the establishment of the International Organization for the Promotion of the Russian Language.
Aliaksandr Lukashenka expressed particular concern about this. The Belarusian dictator saw the problem in the fact that young people in many countries had stopped learning the Russian language.
“You know, today we all speak Russian, so we don’t feel this colossal problem so acutely. But look at the youth in our republics. Many speak Russian worse and weaker than English and other languages. This is our greatest asset. We can reach the point that we will communicate through an interpreter,” Lukashenka said.
For some reason, Lukashenka is not so concerned about the fate of the Belarusian language.
In turn, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking about the situation with the Russian language in the CIS, said that his country will continue to strengthen the status of the Kazakh language.
“The measures taken to promote the Russian language in the CIS and on a broader international scale do not at all exclude the tendency to strengthen the national identity of our countries. Kazakhstan will continue the policy of strengthening the status of Kazakh as the state language,” said the President of Kazakhstan.
