Sviatlana Alexievich About Lukashenko: All Dictators End The Same Way

The usurper will go under trial.
Belarusian writer and Nobel Prize winner in literature Sviatlana Alexievich has been living in Germany for three years. After the presidential elections, she supported the protesters. Already on August 26, 2020, Alexievich was summoned for questioning by the Investigative Committee. A month later, on September 28, she left Belarus. In an interview with Zerkalo, she explained why she believes that Lukashenka should be judged according to international laws.
— In what direction do you think Lukashenka is going, and how will his path end?
— I do not know. It is very difficult. But all dictators end the same way. Their time is running out.
— What kind of future would you like for Lukashenka? Should he leave the country so that Belarusians don’t hear anything more about him, or should he be put on trial?
— There are international laws, and our lives must obey them if we want to live like everyone else. There should be no stories like with Nicolae Ceausescu (the former dictator of Romania, who was executed in 1989 — edit.) There is a law, and we must live by the law.
— Should he be tried according to Belarusian or international laws?
— I think that after such a war he will be judged according to international laws. Because it affected the whole world. The same as it was with Yugoslav politicians — Karadzic, Milosevic. International laws will apply,” Alexievich said.
