Russian Debtor Tries To Fly From Minsk With Fake Passport

A Russian citizen presented a fake passport to border guards at Minsk airport and was detained, reports the press service of the State Border Committee.

In the afternoon of October 22, border guards detained a man with a foreign passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation at the capital's airport during the registration of the flight Minsk - Istanbul. After checking it was found out that the document was fake.

A valid internal passport was found in the Russian citizen's personal belongings. The man could not officially obtain a foreign passport, as he had debts in Russia.

The offender was detained and placed in a temporary detention centre. He faces a fine of up to 100 basic units (Br3,700) for the attempt to illegally cross the border.

In addition, the use of forged documents is punishable by criminal liability - restriction of freedom for up to two years.
