What's the result?
A 70-year-old pensioner, Eva Piskun, who previously declared that she was a fan of Lukashenka, has been charged with "extremism" in Zhlobin, writes Homelskaya Viasna.
The administrative case against Eva Piskun was considered on 24 October. She was charged under Part 2 of Article 19.11 of the Administrative Code (distribution of "extremist" materials). The outcome of the trial is unknown to human rights defenders.
In the spring, the Zhlobin District Court considered a criminal case against Ewa Piskun under Article 188 of the Criminal Code (defamation). As Flagstaff wrote, the case was based on an emotional video message recorded by the pensioner after she was reported for fare evasion on public transport. Prior to the trial, the woman was held in Zhlobin temporary detention centre and sentenced to a hefty fine.
One of the pensioner's cellmates said that Ewa Piskun had described herself as a "fan of Lukashenka":
- The grandmother said: "I love Lukashenka very much. I accepted all the changes that were made. How could they put me in prison before the trial?" Despite her love for Lukashenka, she, like me, slept without a mattress. There was nothing. The lights in the cell were kept on because of the two of us. We were handcuffed and curled up face down on the floor. Me and my grandmother.
