More branches of Russian universities may appear in Belarus.
Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov told reporters before the XII Forum of Engineering and Technological Universities of the Union State that more branches of Russian universities may appear in Belarus. BelTA reports this.
“Both in Belarus and Russia there are excellent universities, including in the field of industry and technological sovereignty. I would like access to these universities to be equal. Russia gives Belarusian students the opportunity to study within the government quota — this is free education. For this year, 1,300 places were given. Russians also study in Belarusian universities. Today I would also like to consider the issues of organizing branches of Russian universities in Belarus,” said Boris Gryzlov.
The ambassador noted that there are 13 branches of Russian universities in Uzbekistan, 8 in Kazakhstan, 6 in Armenia, and only 2 in Belarus.
“There are universities that would like to create their branches here. This would be absolutely correct. Russian universities such as the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University are popular among Belarusian applicants; it is in first place according to wishes; they also enroll in the Institute of Precision Mechanics and Optics and the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University,” he stated.
