Denmark topped the ranking.
Belarus lost 6 more positions and took 104th place out of 142 possible in the global rule of law ranking, which is published annually by the international NGO World Justice Project.
Belarus is located in the 2023 ranking next to Togo (102nd place), Kyrgyzstan (103rd place), Zambia (105th place) and Cote d'Ivoire (106th place).
According to the World Justice Project, the key problems of the Belarusian legal system are the degradation of the mechanism of checks and balances that could limit the actions of the state in relation to its own citizens.
The leading countries in terms of the level of rule of law, according to the WJP rating, in 2023 were Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Germany, and the top 3 anti-ratings included Afghanistan, Cambodia and Venezuela.
