Tor Band Musicians Sentenced To Almost 25 Years In Prison For Three

One of the musicians has serious problems with his spine.

The verdict for the Tor Band musicians has become known, writes Homel Viasna.

Dzmitry Halavach has been sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment in a reinforced security penal colony, and a 100 base fees fine (3,700 rubles). The man’s laptop and phone have also been confiscated by the state.

Yauhen Burlo has been sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment in a reinforced security penal colony, and a fine of 3,700 rubles. His mobile phone was also seized.

Andrei Yaremchyk has been sentenced to 7.5 years in a reinforced security penal colony and a fine of 3,700 rubles. His mobile phone will also go to the state.

As Svaboda learned, the musicians’ relatives were present at the verdict, which was open.

“They all cried during the verdict. One of the relatives lost consciousness during the announcement of the verdict. Yauhen Burlo was on crutches and had difficulty moving. He didn’t even stand up during the announcement of the verdict — judge Siarhei Salouski allowed him,” a source told Svaboda.

It is known that Yauhen Burlo needs spinal surgery. They promised to conduct it. “His health is very poor. Now he is also being tested for cancer,” the source added.

The musicians, whose songs became a symbol of protest in 2020, were accused of inciting hatred, creating or participating in an extremist formation, discrediting the Republic of Belarus, and insulting Lukashenka. They were detained at the end of October 2022.
