Second Phase Of Hamas Assaults On Israel Revealed

Terrorists were preparing attacks on larger cities.

Hamas militants who attacked Israel on October 7 were preparing to move deeper into the country to larger cities if the first attack was successful, The Washington Post writes.

The article reads that, in Beeri, a kibbutz town overrun by Hamas on Oct. 7, one dead fighter had a notebook with hand-scrawled Quranic verses and orders that read, simply, “Kill as many people and take as many hostages as possible.” Others were equipped with gas canisters, handcuffs and thermobaric grenades designed to instantly turn houses into infernos.

The Washington Post writes that new evidence suggests that Hamas was ready to invade deeper in Israel. Some militants carried enough food, ammunition and weapons to survive for several days, officials said. They also bore instructions to continue deeper into Israel if the first wave of attacks succeeded, potentially striking larger Israeli cities.

The assault teams managed to penetrate as far as Ofakim, an Israeli town about 15 miles from the Gaza Strip and about half the distance between the enclave and the West Bank.
