‘We Fought Against Terrorists With Only Four Guns’

The meeting was addressed by Nir Alon, a member of the rapid response unit at Kibbutz Sufa in southern Israel, who spoke about the events of October 7, when Hamas terrorists entered the kibbutz: “The Sufa rapid response unit had six M16 rifles, two of which were faulty. I was unarmed. The squad went into battle with the terrorists with only four guns. We've been screaming about the problems with first responders for years. I don’t know who is responsible for this failure, but 1,400 people died because of it.”

According to Alon, he sat in a protected room with his family and felt complete helplessness because he could not do anything to protect his loved ones, since he only had a knife in his hand.

Alon sharply criticized the Knesset members: “None of the members came and talked to us. Go down to the evacuees because they deserve it. You have neglected them for years. Stop talking – start acting.”
